Probably putting his hands to better use than most of us button slappers, 31 year old Kjetil Nordin from Norway has spent the better part of six years diligently crocheting a rug depicting the iconic World 1 map screen from the NES classic Super Mario Bros. 3.
“(It is) “very emotional, fun and weird to have finished. It has taken such a long time,” Nordin said. “The hardest thing has been to accept that it took such a long time. I’ve spent 800 hours crocheting and many hours researching and searching for the correct yarn.
“When the water was half way finished I saw that I had chosen the wrong shade of blue. It was almost purple, and very ugly, so I had to undo all of it. That took an extra week.”
Well played, Son, well played, it sure puts our TMNT cross stitches to shame, although we still hold a special place in our hearts for this effort created 6 years ago:
Wait a minute… Six years ago? I think we may have found Kjetil Nordin’s inspiration.
